This is an amazing story. My mother apparently recorded herself singing a number of times, but this is the only recording found after she passed over in 1963. It is an uncanny message to her children. At certain points, there is an eerie other-worldly high-pitch in the background. You can hear me answering the phone at one point.
[this is good]
Your mom's song reminds me of my mom. The song has a formality to it, almost an operatic quality. That's the kind of song my mom would have sung. She was born in 1921. Her family escaped the Holocaust in the early 20th Century. Her father was a blind rabbi from Lithuania who brought his family to America very early in the century. He used to have a radio program in New York City, spoken all in Yiddish.

My mom used to tell stories of how all the girls in the family would have their boyfriends with them in the living room at night, and then her blind father would wake up and walk through the house for a glass of water, passing right by all his daughters making out with their boyfriends, and they would be completely silent until he went back to bed. Their mother sure knew what was going on.
